Grand Master Lee was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. He began his study of Hapkido as a young teenager and currently holds a 9th Degree Black Belt. He is the Master Instructor at the Hapkido Center in Warren, New Jersey, President of the World Hapkido Association and is Director and Master Instructor of the Hapkido Sung do-Kwan in Seoul, Korea.

Grand Master Lee has received over 50 certificates of merit from the Minister of Defense, Chief of the General Staff, and the Commissioner of the City of Seoul, Korea.

Grand Master Lee is also President of the American Hapkido Association, encompassing over 60 schools.

Grand Master Lee served as an instructor with the First Special Forces Group in the Korean Army, and has taught martial arts to the police departments in Seoul, Korea as well as Plainfield, New Jersey. He has also served as the director of Hapkido demonstrations for such dignitaries as Hubert H Humphrey and the Chancellor of the Republic of China, Mr. Chang, during their visits to Korea.

Grand Master Lee came to the United States in 1980, and currently operates the Hapkido Center school in New Jersey. He has close to 50 years experience as a martial arts instructor and is the author of a guidebook to the traditional style of Hapkido, Hapkido First Degree Black Belt Course.

Grand Master Lee is a friendly, open and robust man who enjoys discussing Hapkido almost as much he does studying and teaching it. Always athletic and a fierce competitor, Grand Master Lee is an avid golfer outside of the do-jhang.
